BASF’s Coatings group has inaugurated its paint application centre and an extension of its Development Laboratory at the production site in Tultitlán, Mexico. With an investment of USD 10 million, the new facilities will offer services for the dynamic and growing automotive industry. The investment includes a wet and dry laboratory, spray booths with two electrostatic and three manual functions, and a dispersions laboratory. The new facility will support activities including technical service for basecoats, pigments and dispersions as well as the introduction of new colors.

It aims to strengthen the technical support for the automotive industry and to develop sustainable and customized coating materials and technologies. Focused on sustained growth and innovation for the automotive market, the coatings division in Mexico is of key importance to the North American coatings division.

"Tultitlán is a key production site for Coatings in North America, and the new Application Centre labs further strengthen this position”, noted Frank Hezel, Vice President, Business Management Coatings Solutions Mexico.
