I'm looking for equipment for determination of powder coating density on the base of gas (air)displacment.

Density or specific gravity allows to calculate the covering power of the coating powders and therefore the actual cost per unit area covered at a given film thickness.
Three methods are available for this determination:
· Displacement of a non solvent liquid of known density
· Solution in a solvent of known density
· Gas picnometer method
Standard tests for determining density are described in ASTM D792 and ASTM D153 standards.
The gas (air) method is generally recommended because it is relatively quick and easy since it uses dry powder.
The density of powderlike substances could be evaluated within minutes with now available special equipment such as a «Helium pycnometer» supplied by Micrometrics, 1 Micrometrics Dr., Norcross, GA 30093, USA. BYK Gardner in Europe supply also equipment for density evaluation of powderlike substances (http://www.byk-gardner.com/).
