rust spotting on acrylic renders

We have noticed some rust spotting on the surface of our product applied over concrete, the defect occured 7-10 months after application during very humid and damp conditions . The product is an acrylic based water bourne trowel applied render used on exterior facades. We presume the problem is caused by iron contamination of the filler (silica). Any comments on solving such a problem would be appreciated.

This could be related to flash rusting. Your hypothesis seems unlikely, iron should actually help the film. Try to use Flash-X or a rust fighting pigment from Halox.
