Waterborne coatings

| 11. Sep 2018 |

Go with the flow!

The sounds of the ocean, crashing waves, children laughing somewhere in the distance, the sandy beach warm under foot. A quick look over the rim of the sunglasses shows that all is well with the world. Relaxing moments like these in a deck chair are pure heaven – and long may they continue! Remember the days when one ecological disaster followed the next? When blankets of phosphate foam strangled rivers and oil slicks repeatedly had to be shovelled up as shoals of dead fish were washed up on the shoreline? Ah, yes, the 1980s. Times have changed since then and so has the coatings industry – a lot. This seminar provides some relaxation in these hectic days of having to make solvents disappear from paints as quickly as possible to pave the way for waterborne systems. While you are relaxing, we will tell you what to watch out for and we will bring you up to date on the latest advances in waterborne coatings.

Your key-learnings:

  • VOC, REACH and other statutory influences on coatings development
  • Does waterborne really mean totally solvent-free?
  • Does waterborne really mean totally solvent-free?
  • What to watch out for when increasing the water content of a coating
  • Which raw materials are best suited to this type of coating technology?
  • What to watch out for when developing a new waterborne coating
  • Where waterborne coatings have become established, where there is still need for action, and why
  • The current focus of technological development
