Flame Retardant coatings

| 22 May 2019 |

A burning topic

Large conflagrations are relatively rare in Europe. However, they do happen and there can be personal injuries and deaths too. One reason such fires in Europe are so rare is the strict fire regulations. But even though these are strict, they cannot cover all eventualities.

In this seminar you will learn how to contribute to fire safety and how flame retardant coatings can have life-saving properties. You will also learn about various different technologies currently employed and how the underlying chemicals work. And, of course, you will gain a comprehensive overview of current European fire standards and regulations.

Your key-learnings:

  • Why do we need flame retardants?
  • What different types of chemical flame retardants are there?
  • How do various flame retardants work?
  • Which halogenated flame retardants are still permitted?
  • Which flame retardants that form insulating layers are available and how do they work?
  • How are fire tests carried out?
  • Which fire protection coating is suitable for which substrate?
  • Which components are key to a formulation?
  • What are the latest trends in fire protection coatings?
  • Which systems are suitable for use in thin layers?
