Module Solvents - Simply indispensable Presenters: Thomas May, DuPont Performance Coatings Dr. Martina Ortelt, Degussa AG You can't process a coating system unless you have a solvent. Module 5 covers all the basics of solvents, from classification, physical fundamentals of the dissolution process and general solvent properties to REACH legislation and VOC guidelines. You'll know everything by the end of this module! Topics covered: How solvents are used in different coatings Precisely how solvents are affected by the new legislation Where coatings solvents are used and which properties they have The special coating properties of the solvent water Date: 24 - 27 November 2008 Time: 16.00 - 17.30 h CET Course fee: 490,00 EUR The Presenters Thomas May studied physics at the University of Bremen. Since 1984, he has been working in the department of Process Engineering at DuPont Performance Coatings as an officer for customer-related environmental protection. He also presides over the Specialist Committee of Environmental and Industrial Safety at the German Research Association for Surface Treatment (DFO). Dr. Martina Ortelt studied chemistry in Stuttgart. After gaining her doctorate, she spent several years in the coatings industry testing pigment and filler raw materials. In 1991, she transferred to what is now Evonik Degussa GmbH in Marl. She is responsible there for providing global technical support for diamines and specialty solvents in the Coatings & Colorants/Crosslinkers division.
