Module Coatings formulation- Getting the right mix
Presenter: W. (Marshall) Ming, Technical University of Eindhoven
There are many factors governing the composition of a coating material. However, some of the requirements and desired properties can be diametrically opposed or even mutually exclusive. This is where the formulator comes in. He or she must strike a balance that meets as many of the requirements as possible. Module 6 shows you the right way to master this challenge, and will deal with basic recipe parameters and sample recipes for different systems.
Topics covered:
How individual coatings ingredients affect each other
How to develop a recipe
How to re-formulate
How to choose the components of a coatings system correctly
Date: 01 - 03 December 2008 Time: 16.00 - 17.30 h CET
Course fee: 375,00 EUR
The Presenter
W. (Marshall) Ming is an Assistant Professor in Polymer Chemistry & Coatings Technology since November 2000. He received his B.S. in Materials Chemistry at Fudan University in Shanghai in 1993, and a Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry and Physics in 1998. From January 1996 to June 1997 he was a research associate in Coatings Research Institute at Eastern Michigan University. His current research interests include nature-inspired functional polymers, nanostructured materials and applications, and environmentally benign polymer systems.
