Celanese Emulsion Polymers has announced the launch of the "EcoVAE" product range. The first emulsion based on vinyl acetate/ethylene, helping to formulate environmentally sound coatings, is called "EcoVAE 401". It exhibits a large difference between the glass transition temperature (Tg) and the minimum film forming temperature (MFFT). The finished coating produces a durable film without the need for coalescing agents. This APE-free product allows paints to be formulated with a low VOC content, below 50 g/l. For interior paints in particular, this means advantages for the scrub resistance, odour levels and finish.
