Nano photocatalysts offer self cleaning solutions
|
The efficiency of normal titanium dioxide based photocatalysts is too low to be applied in practice. With the rapid development of nanotechnology in the 21st century, TitanPE Technologies’ (TiPE) scientists are able to apply this new technology on photocatalysts. In combination of the nano photocatalytic feature with the UV induced super hydrophilic feature, the TiPE nano coatings are now able to offer self cleaning properties for buildings and constructions. The coatings are colourless and transparent to the substrate, so they can be used on glass, metal surfaces, stones and painted walls. When the surface on nano level photocatalytic films is exposed to light, the contact angle of the photocatalyst surface with water is reduced gradually. After enough exposure to light, the surface reaches super hydrophilic properties. You can read more about the properties of the nano photocatalysts in the January issue of Coatings International, pages 27-31. RELATED LINKS »
