Fundamentals of Antifouling
Not yet familiar with the detailed scientific background of biofouling
and how to face it? Need a refresh? Our concise four-hour pre-conference
tutorial aims to help you in this respect, facilitating and enhancing
your understanding of the high-level technical presentations during
the main conference. Specifically, the tutorial will address
Causes and mechanisms of biofouling
Antifouling concepts
How to optimize release paints

The Lecturers
Dr. Björn Dahlbäck is Programme Director for the research programme Marine Paint which is funded by Mistra - The Swedish Strategic Environmental Research Fund. Marine Paint is carried out at Gothenburg University and Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg Sweden. The programme carries out research within the area of marine biofouling in order to develop new, environmentally adapted substances. Dr Dahlbäck has his research training in marine microbiology and has had various management positions in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry. He has also been active as a management consultant for many years.
Prof. Nydén is professor at the Chalmers University of Technology where he is also supervising several doctoral studies in applied surface chemistry. He further is the leader of the project "Paint Formulation Chemistry" within the Marine Paint programme. The aim of this project is to develop a paint formulation concept for the paint industry. Prof. Nydén´s special interest is the minimization and optimization of release paints.
Please note that the pre-conference tutorial and the main conference are two seperate events and that pre-registration is absolutely necessary as places are limited!
