 NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES & SOCIAL PROGRAMME

CEPE Annual Conference & General Assembly 2008
24 - 26 September 2008, Berlin/Germany

For those who arrive early or depart late, we have organised a special and exclusive social programme, which will give you or your spouse the possibility to discover the city of Berlin. If you would like to attend, please make your reservation on the conference registration form. Please note that seats are limited.

Welcome Get-together
24 September, 19.00 - 22.00 h

Who's who? We will kick-off with a wonderful opern-air reception to set the stage for a warm and friendly exchange on the evening of September 24th, 2008 starting at 19.00 h. All delegates and speakers are welcome to join in and experience the Grand Hotel Esplanade Berlin's unique atmosphere of urbane sophistication and lifestyle.

CEPE Night
25 September, 18.30 - 22.30 h

Connect with your European colleagues and chat about the new challenges and opportunities the coatings world is facing. The present day "Opernpalais Unter den Linden", a traditional and historical venue dating back to 1733, has been the home of members of the Court, princes, crown princes and the empress, who all enjoyed the view the house gives of the old Berlin boulevard. With its five different outlets of gastronomy, the Opernpalais now presents a quite special dining experience to the public in the heart of historic Berlin.
These unique surroundings will set the scene for an evening of great food, entertainment and conversation. Do not miss this opportunity to meet your fellow peers and leave an "impressive" day behind in a relaxed atmosphere.

Classic Sightseeing Berlin
Full Day Tour

25 September, 10.00 - 16.00 h

This full day programme starts with an extensive sightseeing bus tour, accompanied by an English-speaking guide. At all major sights, you will have time to get off the bus to experience them live as well as to take pictures. One of the highlights will be accessing the glass dome of the "Reichstag" (German house of parliament) without having to queue.
Around noon, your guide will lead you to a traditional German restaurant and join you for a relaxing lunch break. Food and drinks will be served à-la-carte and are at your individual expense.
The afternoon will allow for a visit and/or guided tour of the Pergamonmuseum. Situated on the famous Island of museums in the city centre of Berlin, it consists of three museums: the exhibits of monumental architecture of the Egyptian and Ancient Near East Museum, the Museum of the Ancient Near East, the Collection of Classical Antiquities and the Museum of Islamic Art. Its impressive reconstruction of archaeological buildings has made this museum well-known globally.

City Rally
25 September, 10.00 - 14.00 h

The idea behind the city rally is to combine the curiosity of the participants with a right mixture of team-spirit, creativity and a sense of humor. In contrast to a classic sightseeing tour, the participants experience the city and its people first-hand. Provided with a map and a roadbook of questions and tasks, small teams are sent out to discover Berlins original charm on their own. As this is impossible without getting in contact with the locals and looking behind the scenes of the city, it is definitely a thrilling way to capture the fascinating metropolis of Berlin. Please note: Common language of the rally is English.

Classic Sightseeing Berlin
Half Day Tour

24 September, 14.30 - 17.30 h
26 September, 09.30 - 12.30 h and 14:30 h - 16.30 h

Meet our professional guide in the lobby of the Grand Hotel Esplanade to get an overview of Berlin's major historical highlights during the guided bus-tour. Afterwards, you can be dropped off in town for some shopping and return to the hotel at your own convenience or let the bus take you back.
