Polyurethane and ACE coatings: The hands-on experience
Wednesday, 14 December 2016
International experts gathered in November for two novel conferences on the subject of polyurethane coatings and coatings for ACE. The new, innovative concept employed ensured that exchanges were of an unusually high quality and also spawned plenty of riveting discussions.
Conferences can be quite boring. At the front of the room is a speaker and, if you are lucky, he might have something interesting to say and he might even be able to make it exciting. By the time you reach the fourth or fifth lecture, though, even the most interesting topic is hard to follow. Quite simply, there are natural limits to the human capacity for concentration. In November, Vincentz Network trialed a concept aimed at circumventing this problem and so provide more conference ‘takeaways’ by holding two conferences on the topics of Polyurethane Coatings and Coatings for ACE (Agriculture, Construction and Earth Moving Equipment). Each event attracted around 60 international participants.
In addition to traditional lecture-based presentations, workshops were held in which small groups of participants engaged directly with the speakers and with other participants. Not only did this create a more open atmosphere within the small groups, but the many samples and exhibits for handling and trying out intensified the exchanges.
The complete article on the events can be found in the December issue of the European Coatings Journal. Do you also want to take part in an EC Tech Forum? The next event, the EC Technology Forum Marine Coatings will take place on February 8 -9 2017 in Berlin, Germany. The conference program, abstracts and registration is available here.
