ECS 2015: What a show!
Wednesday, 20 May 2015
What a show! And what a congress! The European Coatings Show and Congress 2015 ended with overwhelming numbers (see our report on page 42). The dominating theme – sustainability – was discussed everywhere – at exhbitors’ booths, during the product presentations, and at the congress. It comes as no surprise that also the prizewinning paper of the European Coatings Award focuses on a novel, environmentally friendly technology.
Fred Van Wijk of Nuplex Resins and his co-authors introduced a new low VOC, isocyanate- and tin-free coating system, which is built on a novel blocked catalyst and kinetic control additive package used in conjunction with Michael Addition chemistry. In this issue, we proudly present the unabridged award-winning paper (page 34).
As the current issue focuses on anticorrosion coatings, waterborne epoxies are discussed on page 18. Francoise Heine, Hexion, and her co-authors present their research on recently developed systems which retain performance at reduced cost.
Francoise Heine will tell you more about this study in our free and web-based event European Coatings Live on 26 May 2015, 15.00 CET. Tune in at www.european-coatings.com/live!
