The customer demand for better quality and more durable powder coatings has increased. In order to meet all or most of these requirements binders for thermosetting powder coatings carboxylicpolyester and hardener (solid epoxy resins) were prepared containing organically modified natural halloysite aluminosilicate clay. Dr. Zbigniew Boncza-Tomaszewski, Industrial Chemistry ResearchInstitute, Warsaw explains this approach of novel nanocomposite binders for powder coatings and summarises first results.
