Effect pigment creates surfaces with patina effect
Monday, 6 February 2012
This new effect pigment for decorative applications provides a soft and sparkling appearance and enables the reduced gloss look of aged paint.
The use of effect pigments in interior design is reaching a higher profile. However, traditional pearlescent pigments and aluminum flakes create strong gloss, which is not always aesthetically appealing for large surfaces. "Firemist Velvet Pearl” is a new effect pigment for decorative applications that provides a soft and sparkling appearance and opens the door to new effects. It has been developed to allow the creation of unique surfaces based on patina effects. With it, the reduced gloss look of aged paint can be achieved, which has the subtle sparkle of freshly fallen snow, even in matt finishes. Britta Seibel from BASF SE will present this new pigment and its application areas at the European Coatings Conference "Architectural Coatings” on 24 April 2012 in Berlin.
