New production process leads to improved binder performance

Wednesday, 25 November 2009

A new continuous process for the production of meth-acrylate binders for solventbased paints has been developed.

A new continuous process for the production of meth-acrylate binders for solventbased paints has been developed. The highly controllable process requires no polymerisation additives. Like bulk polymerisation, it allows a very wide range of monomers to be utilised, but provides much better controllability. Paints based on resins from the new process showed better pigment stabilisation, gloss and adhesion than conventional ones of identical chemical composition.
