A new corrosion inhibitor offers multi-metal protection at a very low dosage rate with no future need for removal.
Cortec Corporation has developed a new waterbased vapor phase corrosion inhibitor. The inhibitor can be used for protection of internal void spaces, exposed surfaces and in internal packaging. It offers multi-metal protection at a very low dosage rate with no future need for removal. The inhibition effectiveness of the product was validated using electrochemical techniques. The results provide validation to the technology for use in equipment such as gas and steam turbines that are susceptible to stress corrosion cracking, and crevice corrosion. Since it is waterbased and will not clump, it also suits for equipment with complex geometries such as boilers, heat recovery steam generators and pressure vessels. Once equipment has been treated with the product, it will remain protected for up to three years with no subsequent application necessary. The inhibitor conforms to military specification MIL-I-22110C, NACE Standard TM0208-2008 and is RoHS compliant.
