Environmental friendliness is one challenge for the biocides in antifoulings. Besides this also biocide-free solutions are being developed at the moment. Dr. Bert van Hattum, Institute forEnvironmental Studies in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, speaks about the results of this research project.
