Gloss for Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula 1 race car comes from AkzoNobel.Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton drive this new car for the next time at the Spain Grand Prix in Barcelona, which is bingheld on 2 May.

This season Vodafone McLaren Mercedes MP4-24 has been finished with Sikkens products tailor-made by AkzoNobel Car Refinishes to meet the technical demands of grand prix racing. A combination of VOC compliant systems and specialty products helps to optimise the performance, while at the same time producing the striking, all-important chrome finish of the car. As well as producing a distinctive high chrome finish, the new paint system has also halved the time required to cure the new bodywork parts, vitally speeding up the paint application process. The paint products give a high gloss effect and offers savings. The commercial agreement as the official supplier of paint solutions to the Formula 1 team runs until 2011. The partnership involves technicians from both parties working together to develop VOC compliant coatings innovations.
