Lignol and PPG to develop lignin applications for coatings

Thursday, 26 November 2009

Lignol and PPG have formed a joint development agreement to incorporate lignin applications into various industrial coatings.

Lignol Energy Corp. has entered a development agreement with paint and coatings supplier PPG Industries, Inc. for commercial applications of Lignol´s lignin derivatives in industrial coatings. The deal establishes a program to incorporate the company’s lignin into the paint producer’s coatings applications as a replacement for chemicals derived from petroleum-based products. The company says the compounds have been shown to have application in a wide range of industrial products replacing materials typically derived from petrochemicals, with a consequent reduction of greenhouse gas formation.
