The upcoming European Coatings JOURNAL features the paper on how polymer mixing enhances performance of waterborne coatings by Zhenwen Fu, the winner of the European Coatings Award 2009.
A light at the end of the tunnel is something the entire coatings industry is hoping for at the moment. However, most facts and figures are not pointing in that direction. R&D masterminds are making the most of this highly uncomfortable situation. One of them is Zhenwen Fu of Rohm and Haas, the winner of the European Coatings Award 2009. In his paper Fu explains how polymer mixing enhances performance of waterborne coatings. His approach offers a wholly new strategy toward simultaneously enhancing film formation, reducing VOC and accelerating hardness related property development. In the Expert Voices Fabio Paniccia of the ICA Group describes "remarkable strides forward" referring to the development of waterborne and UV wood coatings. In her report on a study of the European adhesives and sealants market, Monique von Dungen had to update many figures due to the economic crisis. At present, the market study cannot promise growth any more, but hopes for new horizons persist.
