On the one hand more and more waterbased anticorrosive coatings are being developed. On the other hand some applications and substrates still use coatings containing chromates, because they show the best performance. What are the ways to find the balance between performance and sustainability?
Corrosion protection has always been a permanent issue for the industry. Special coating systems can limit the damage caused by this phenomenon. Browsing the internet and relevant literature, I have come across a lot of new pigment developments, one of which is covered in this year's winning paper of the European Coatings Award.
